About Mercy Corps

The Mercy Corps' mission is to alleviate suffering, poverty, and oppression by helping people build secure, productive, and just communities. They believe in the intrinsic value and dignity of human life. They are awed by human resilience, and believe in the ability of all people to thrive, not just exist.

They believe that all people have the right to live in peaceful communities and participate fully in the decisions that affect their lives and they value stewardship of the earth's health, pledging to accountably and efficiently preserve and manage its resources. They believe that it is our duty to be effective stewards of the financial resources entrusted to them.

Mercy Corps works with idealistic youth, courageous mothers, determined entrepreneurs, hardscrabble farmers, survivors of disaster or war. They live in tiny remote villages and in the slums of the world's biggest cities. Mercy Corps is there for them, listening to their needs, helping any way they can.

Mercy Corps listens to locals and prioritizes their most urgent needs. They fix market gaps to drive economic recovery. They bring groups together to negotiate conflict and strengthen civic participation. They think big, start small and take responsible risks to find solutions that benefit the greatest number of people.
