Established in 1994, PetSmart Charities, Inc. creates and supports programs that save the lives of homeless pets, raise awareness of companion animal welfare issues, and promote healthy relationships between people and pets. As the largest funder of animal welfare efforts in North America, PetSmart Charities to date has funded $110 million in grants and programs benefiting animal welfare organizations and, through its in-store adoption program, helped save the lives of more than 4.4 million pets. PetSmart Charities partners with and provides funding to more than 2,500 local animal welfare organizations and shelters, helping them to provide spay and neuter services for dogs and cats; assist pets in disaster situations; and find lifelong, loving new homes for approximately 400,000 dogs, cats and small animals every year through PetSmart Charities' adoption centers, located in every PetSmart store.
